            C-S compounds in gas are converted into H2S by catalysts in the presence of H2, and the H2S is then absorbed; preferably metals such as Pb and Su are used, which may be mixed with inorganic bases or acid anhydrides.  Pb chromate, Ca plumbate, Cu and CuO, and infusorial earth may be used or Pb acetate may be applied to porous earthenware.
