      699.  ------.  [FISCHER, F., AND TROPSCH, H.]  [Hydrocarbons.]  German Patent 484,337, Oct. 16, 1929; appl. F 59,419, filed July 22, 1925 (Cl. 12 o-1).  FIAT Reel AA-88, frames 3,796-3,798:  PB 70,273; Chem. Abs., vol. 24, 1930, p. 1119.

Paraffin hydrocarbons containing a plurality of C atoms in the molecule are prepared from H2 and oxides of C by passing these gases over a suitable catalyst at a temperature lower than that at which the catalyst promotes the production of CH4 only.  The reaction may be conducted at reduced, ordinary, or slightly raised pressure.  Suitable catalysts are mixtures of ZnO with Fe, or Cu with Fe, or Co with Cu; pure Ni is not suitable.  Gives examples.
