      681.  ------.  [FISCHER, F., AND PICHLER, H.]   (Studien- und Verwertungs-G. m. b. H.).  [Process for the Production of Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.]  German Patent Appl. 60,409, filed Jan. 22, 1941 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel B-196, frames 382-385; TOM Reel 100.

Higher hydrocarbons are produced by carrying out the process at pressures > atmospheric (10-30 atm.) and at 180º-230º over Fe catalysts and with a synthesis gas of composition CO:H2=1:3 or 4.  The catalyst is prepared by precipitation from Fe nitrate and pretreated at 0.1 atm. and 325º with CO.  By carrying ou the synthesis in 2 or 3 repeated steps, the yield of liquid products can be increased from 60-70 gm. per m.3 of gas to 110 and 140 gm., respectively.
