            Process of producing aliphatic solid, liquid, or readily liquefiable hydrocarbons from gas mixtures containing CO and H2 in the presence of an Fe catalyst comprises passing a mixture of CO and H2 under an operating pressure of 2-100 atm. and at 220º-320º over an Fe catalyst that has been subjected to a preliminary treatment with CO under a pressure considerably lower than the operating pressure subsequently employed.
