            CH4 is heated to 1,000º-1,100º for not more than 1 sec., suitably 0.05-0.2 sec.  The CH4 may be diluted with coke gas, and ordinary or reduced pressure may be used.  C6H6 and other aromatic hydrocarbons are formed, and the H2 produced may be reconverted into CH4 by reaction with CO or CO2 in the presence of a Ni catalyst or used for hydrogenating the hydrocarbons produced or other materials.
