      671.  FISCHER, F., AND KOCH, H.  (Studien- und Verwertungs-G. m. b .H.).  “Knock-Proof” Gasoline and Lubricating Oil.  United States Patent 2,128,994, Sept. 9, 1938; appl. filed July 10, 1935.  Chem. Abs., vol. 32, 1938, p. 8764.

Process that comprises passing water gas at about 200º and at about atm. pressure in contact with a hydrogenation catalyst, subjecting the reaction products to distillation at a temperature up to about 125º, separating the distillate, continuing distillation up to about 250º, heating the 2d distillate after separation from the paraffinic residue obtained under stirring in the presence of a polymerization catalyst to about 120º, purifying the oil layer thereby obtained, distilling same at ordinary pressure up to 250º, and continuing the distillation up to 200º  under a high vacuum for the recovery of a 3d distillate and of a residue, which is adapted for use as a lubricant, and cracking the 3d distillate together with the paraffinic residue to recover knockproof benzine.  Describes arrangement of apparatus.
