      668.  ------.  [FISCHER, F.]  Liquid Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.  Australian Patent 4,773, Apr. 28, 1932; appl. filed Nov. 2, 1931.  Chem. Zentralb., 1932, II, p. 2237.

In the synthesis of hydrocarbons at ordinary or slightly raised pressure and temperature but below that at which CH4 is mainly formed.  Ni catalysts are used that are free from Cu and have been made by being precipitated together with activated substances such as Th, Al, and Ce from their solutions on porous substances and then reduced by H2.  The operating temperature for these catalysts lies at 150º-250º; for example, 180º for a gas mixture of CO:H2=1:2.
