      647.  FEISST, W., NEWELLING, H., AND ROELEN, O.  (Hydrocarbons Synthesis Corp.).  Converting Carbon Oxides Into Higher Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent 2,238,726. Apr. 15, 1941: appl. Filed Dec. 4, 1936, Serial No. 114,186, in Germany Dec. 10, 1935; 9 claims (Cl. 260-449).  Chem. Abs., vol. 35, 1941, p. 4777.

Reaction is effected between C oxides and gases containing free H2, substantially free from other reactants, at about 180°-250° in the presence of a catalyst such as one of Co., Th oxide, and kieselguhr.  Nonvolatile reaction products are periodically removed from the catalyst, at a temperature not materially above the reaction temperature, as by use of H2 or extraction with benzine, before these reaction products impair the efficiency of the catalyst by over about 5%.
