      641.  FARLOW, M. W., AND HERRICK, E. C. (E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co.).  Catalytic Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide to Orientable.  Essentially hydrocarbon Polymers.  United States Patent 2,652,372.  Sept. 15, 1953: appl. Filed July 10, 1951, Serial No. 236,086; 12 claims (Cl. 260-2).

Claim 1.  An essentially hydrocarbon polymer orientable by cold drawing, which is the reaction product of CO and H, said hydrocarbon polymer melting above 130° C., having an inherent viscosity of at least 1.1, measured at 0.1% concentration in tetrahydronaphthalene at 125° C., and being capable of forming tough films having a density of at least 0.97, based on the annealed film and having a stiffness modulus >150,000 p. s. i., and a microtensible breaking strength of at least 100,000 p. s. i., based on the relaxed drawn dimension of a film of said polymer.
