      635.  ------.  [FARBWERKE VORM. MEISTER LUCIUS AND BRÜNING.]  Methane.  British Patent 146,114, June 22, 1920.  Chem. Abs., vol. 14, 1920, p. 3428.

In the later stages of the process described in British Patent 146,110 (abs. 634), that is, after a high concentration of CH4 has been attained, CO2  in an amount corresponding to about ¼ of the H2 remaining is added instead of further addition of CO: the H2O vapor is removed after each passage as before.  In an example, the first set of furnaces taking CO and H2 is heated to 290º and the furnaces through which the gases are passed subsequent to addition of CO2 are heated to 390º.  Excess of CO2 may be removed from the gases by absorption by lime, etc. and the residue of H2 by heated CuO.
