      592.  ------.  [EASTMAN, D., AN GAUCHER, L. P.]  (The Texas Co.).  Catalytic Synthesis of Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent 2,632,017, Mar. 17, 1953: appl. filed June 17, 1947. Serial No. 755,236: 5 claims (Cl. 260-449.6).  Chem. Abs., vol. 47, 1953. p. 5666.

In catalytic synthesis of hydrocarbons and oxygenated compounds from CO and H2, low net CH4 and CO2 formation is obtained by operating at a recycle rate particularly favorable to minimum net CH4 formation while carrying the degree of conversion, and accordingly CO2 suppression, materially beyond that which would be characteristic of such recycle by fortifying the fresh feed with CH4 or other light saturated hydrocarbon gas.  In addition, the added CH4 by itself appears to suppress net CH4 formation.  The CH4 added to the feed passes through the reactor essentially unchanged and, after separation of the desired reaction products, can be conveyed directly to the power plant for recovery of the required thermal energy.  1 literature ref. and 10 United States patents cited.
