      575.  ------.  [DUFTSCHMID, F., LINCKH, E., AND WINKLER, F.]  (Standard Catalytic Co.).  Synthesis of Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.  United States Patent 2,318,602, May 11, 1943: appl. Filed June 1, 1939.  Serial No. 276,856. in Germany June 2, 1938: 1 claims (Cl. 260-449).  Chem. Abs., vol. 37, 1943. p. 6111.

Describes arrangement of apparatus and a process is employed for the catalytic conversion of CO and H2 into hydrocarbons with more than 1 C atom in the molecule.  Which involves continuously circulating through the reaction space, concurrently with the reaction gas, a liquid medium, such as a “proper oil”. Preheated to about the desired reaction temperature, injecting into the reaction zone at spaced points along the passage of the gases additional regulated amounts of the same liquid medium at temperatures substantially below the reaction temperature so as to maintain the temperature throughout the reaction space within desired limits, and employing as the liquid medium mentioned and oil obtained by a previous conversion and containing a considerable amount of constituents, which are gaseous or vaporous under the reaction conditions.
