In the hydrogenation of CO to hydrocarbons with recycling of liquid hydrocarbons through the catalyst bed, the relatively high boiling hydrocarbon products are withdrawn from the system instead of being recycled, preferably by separation from the hot gases directly at the outlet of the reaction zone.
