            Production of products such as acetaldehyde, EtOH, PrOH, and acetone by the interaction of oxides of C.  H2, and substances produced by the catalytic hydrogenation of oxides of C is effected in the presence of ferrites, ferrates, cobaltites, or cobaltates such as those of alkali or alkaline earth metals.
