Production of hydrocarbons from CO and H2 is effected by introducing the reactant gases in an organic liquid containing the catalyst.  Such an organic liquid may be anthracene oil: the catalyst being the fatty acid salts of high molecular weight of Ni or Co used in conjunction with Cu and Th.
