      534.     ------.  [DREYFUS, H.]  Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Steam.  United States Patent 2,257,293, Sept. 30, 1941; appl. filed Feb. 1, 1938, Serial No. 188,063, in Great Britain Feb. 19, 1937; 3 claims (Cl. 260-449).  Chem. Abs., vol. 36, 1942, p. 250.

Process is employed for the production of hydrocarbons, which involves passing a mixture of CO and steam over a catalytic mass such as a Ni catalyst, which is adapted to produce CO2 and H2 from the mixture and to catalyze the reduction of CO with H2, the gas mixture first coming into contact with the catalytic mass at 400º-500º to convert part of the CO to CO2 and then, while the steam content of the gas mixture formed at such temperature is maintained, into contact with the catalytic mass at 150º-250º.
