      533.  ------.  [DREYFUS, H.]  Hydrocarbons and Oxygenated Derivatives.  British Patent 505,121.  May 5, 1939: appl. Filed Nov. 6, 1937.  Chem. Abs., vol. 33, 1939. p. 7814.

In the synthesis of these from CO and H2, the catalyst is submerged in a liquid that boils completely within the permissible range of reaction temperatures under the pressure employed or partly within this range and for the rest above it.  Hydrocarbons, such as a purified petroleum fraction or an oil obtained by reduction of CO, may be employed as the liquid medium.  Part of the liquid vaporizes, the vapors being condensed and returned to the reaction zone.
