      495.  DINWIDDIE, J. A.  (Standard Oil Development Co.)  Olefins   From Oxides.  United States Patent 2,542,487, Feb. 20, 1951: appl. filed Oct. 17, 1947, Serial No. 780,387; 3 claims (Cl. 260-682).  Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 4431.

Olefins are prepared from monoolefin oxides, such as those obtained as by products in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, by passing the oxide vapors at 450°-650° F.  and 50-300 p.s.i. pressure over a catalyst composed of Fe, Ni, or Co oxides promoted by 1%-8% K2CO3.  C3H6 was prepared by passing (CH2)3O over Fe2O4 containing 3% K2CO3 at 575° F. and 150 p.s.i. at a rate of 0.3 vol. per vol. of catalyst per hr. to yield a product containing 35.6% by vol. of C3H6.
