MeOH synthesis is carried out by the use of neutral Zn carbonate, which has been obtained by precipitation from a Zn salt solution with a soluble (alkali) carbonate at low temperature in amorphous form and has been changed in the mother liquor at low temperature until the precipitate has assumed a crystalline structure as catalyst.
