Fluidized catalyst consists of Fe, Co, or Ni and a carrier material, such as kieselguhr, pumice, silica gel, and alumina gel.  The added activating agent is the carbonate, halogenide, or oxide of K, Cr, Zn, Al, Mg, or the rare earths.  The partial pressure of H2 lies above 10.5 atm. and the temperature above 315°.  The total pressure in the reaction zone is above 24.6 atm.  In general, propane, butane, and higher hydrocarbons are produced.
