      443.            CORNIC, Y. [Petroleum.]  French Patent 696,163. Oct. 30, 1930.  Chem. Abs., vol. 25, 1931, p. 2843.

Petroleum is obtained by treating CH4 with nascent CO2; the O of the CO2 burns a part of the H of the CH4, which then condenses to petroleum.  The CO2 is obtained from carbonates dissociated by heat, with or without the addition of substances favoring dissociation and with or without pressure.
