      421.     ------.  [COMPAGNIE DE PRODUITS CHIMIQUES ET ÉLECTROMETALLURIGIQUES ALAIS, FROGES ET CAMARGUE.]  [Motor Fuel.]  French Patent 855,049, Apr. 30, 1940.  Chem. Abs., vol. 42, 1948, p. 2419.

CO and S-free H2(2:1 vols.) are passed over an oxide catalyst at 1 m.3 per hr. for each 1. of catalyst at a temperature of 470º-475º and a pressure of 150 atm.  The products form 2 layers, the lower being aqueous, which gives MeOH, acetone, etc., on distilling, and the upper is separated into 2 fractions.  That below 115º is heated over an Al catalyst at 420º, and the resulting olefins are polymerized and then hydrogenated at 400º under 150 atm. over MoO and active C as catalysts.  H2O is removed after this treatment and the fuel added to that obtained from the first fraction.
