      415.     ------.  [COMPAGNIE DE BÉTHUNE]  Methanol Synthesis.  British Patent 275,600, August 6, 1926.  Chem. Abs., vol. 22, 1928, p. 2171.

Catalysts suitable for use in hydrogenation of CO comprise irreducible oxides to which 2-10% of Ni, Ni oxide, or a Ni salt has been added: for example, a catalyst may be prepared by immersing heated active C in a solution of Zn and Cr formats containing a small quantity of Ni formate, and evaporating to dryness; this catalyst may be used for producing MeOH from a mixture containing CO, H2, N2, and CH4 at 800 atm. pressure and a temperature of 300º.
