      394.     COLE, R. M.  (Shell Development Co.).  Solvent Extraction of Olefins.  United States Patent 2,523,681, Sept. 26, 1950.  Chem. Abs., vol. 45, 1951, p. 341.

Olefins of 2-8 C atoms are extracted from hydrocarbons in the gasoline boiling range using an aqueous solution of AgNO3 and PhOH composed of 10%-22% by weight of H2O and AgNO3 and PhOH in the ratio 1:2.  About 10%-20% by volume of olefins of 5 C atoms are absorbed by this solution, and a AgNO3 solution solutized with ethylene glycol absorbs 4%, and straight AgNO3 solution 1-2%.  Since absorption increases only slightly with decreasing temperature, the process is carried out at room temperature.  The high solubility of olefins in the solution can be utilized for storing and transporting olefins that are normally gaseous.  Gives examples for extraction of various olefins under different conditions.
