      393.            COHN, H., AND NON-POISONOUS GAS HOLDING CO., LTD.  Catalysts.  British Patent 424,478, Feb. 21, 1935.  Chem. Abs., vol. 20, 1935, p. 5254.

A catalyst for the water-gas reaction consists of an Fe compound, such as Fe(OH)3, and activating alkali metal compound, for example K2CO3, and a H2O-eliminating binder, such as cement.  The Fe compound and the binder are loosely mixed and shaped into spheres without pressure, for example in a revolving drum.  The activator may be mixed with the other ingredients but preferably part of it is applied in solution as an impregnating agent after shaping.
