      385.     ------.  [CLARK, A.]  (Phillips Petroleum Co.).  Synthesis of Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent Appl. 684,143, no date.  Official Gaz., vol. 628, 1949, p. 1531; chem.. Abs., vol. 44, 1950, p. 11067.

After pyrolysis of CH4 and removal of aromatic hydrocarbons formed thereby, the residual gas is reformed in presence of O2 and/or CO and then passed through a hydrocarbon-synthesis reactor.  The products so obtained, either with or without preliminary separation of gaseous components, are mixed with the aromatic hydrocarbons from the pyrolysis step, and the mixture is fractionated to produce high-octane gasoline.
