      352.            CENTRE NATIONALE DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE>  {Reacting Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.]  French Patent 973,289, Feb. 9, 1951.  Chem. Abs., vol. 46, 1952. p. 9287.

Mixture of CO and H2 is passed over a Ni catalyst at 300º and atmospheric pressure to remove substantially all the CO.  Steam may be mixed with the gases before the reaction.  A mixture of equal volumes of CO and H2 and 15% steam is passed over a catalyst consisting of kaolin 30%.  NiO 45%, sand 15%, K2CO3 3%, and Na2CO3 7% at the rate of 100 vol. Per hr.  The resulting gas which is 66.7% of the original volume consists of CO, 0.7%:CO2, 41%:CH4, 31.7%: and H2, 26.6%.  If steam is added to the extent of 30% the gas obtained.  91.6% of the original volume consists of CO. 0.5%: CO2, 29%:CH4, 29%:and H2, 41%.
