In the continuous production of a CO-H2 gas mixture form the combustion of oil and O2 in a generating chamber, the temperature of the gas mixture is controlled by introducing steam and additional oil into the generator to react in a secondary zone, the quantities of oil-O2 and steam-oil being regulated to produce only CO and H2 in each case.
