      300.          CAMPBELL, D. L., AND BARR, F. T.  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  [Reaction of Hydrogen With Carbon Oxides.]  French Patent 915,583, Nov. 12, 1946, appl. filed Oct. 8, 1945, in United States Dec. 17, 1940.  Chem. Zentralb., 1949, I. p. C 78.

Process is applicable to the production of MeOH and other alcohols, of liquid hydrocarbon and organic oxycompounds, in the presence of finely divided catalysts suspended in the gases in such a manner that the mixture of gas and catalyst is passed from bottom to top through comparatively narrow tubes (12.7-20.3 mm. Diameter)  cooled from without by means of liquids.  By such means virtually the entire heat of reaction can be immediately removed.
