      263.     ------.  [BRUNER, F. H.]  (The Texas Co.).  Apparatus for Catalytic Conversion of Carbon Monoxide.  United States Patent 2,568,743.  May 23, 1950; appl. filed Sept. 13, 1947, Serial No. 773,884; 15 claims (Cl. 260-449.6).  Chem. Abs., vol. 44, 1950, p. 7515.

Volatile metal carbonyls formed in the conversion of CO at 150º-400º F.  and 150-2,000 p. s. i. with catalysts containing metals of the Fe group are decomposed on a catalyst carrier or spent catalyst in a secondary reaction zone maintained at a temperature 50º-1,000º . above the primary reaction zone and at atmospheric pressure.  When a substantial mount of metal has accumulated in the decomposition zone, the flow of reactants is reversed and the secondary zone is used as the reaction zone, whereas the primary zone is used for the decomposition of the metal carbonyl.
