High yields of alcohols are obtained when aldehydes, which are preferably prepared by simultaneously reacting CO and H2 with diisobutylene at elevated temperatures and pressures in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst, are hydrogenated in the vapor phase by passing them together with H2 over a catalyst comprising reduced Cu+ZnO.  6 United States patents, 4 foreign patents, and 1 literature ref.
