      196.            BLANDING. F. H.  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Fluidized-Catalyst Regeneration.  United States Patent 2,454,373, No., 23, 1948.  Chem. Abs., vol. 43, 1949. p. 1956.

Spent or fonled catalyst particles (I) in the hydrocarbon conversion operation containing coke or carbonaceous material are sprayed into regeneration gases (II) containing only a small quantity of suspended (I).  The injected (I) reduce the temperatures in the (II) because of their high specific heat and their temperature, which is about 23º-38º lower than the regeneration temperature.  Enough (I) is injected to reduce the O2 concentration to 1.6%, or below, thus preventing afterburning.  Includes drawing.
