      190.     ------.  [BLACK, J. F.]  (Standard Oil Development Co.).  [Synthesis of Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.]  French Patent 915,586, Nov. 12, 1946; appl. filed Oct. 8, 1945; in United States, Apr. 20, 1944.  Chem. Zentralb., 1949, II, p. E-145.

Catalyst for the process consists of Ni chromite or a mixture of reduced Ni and Cr oxides supported on kieselguhr or silica gel.  It is preferably in the finely powdered and fluidized state.  It is distinguished by a limited sensitivity to temperature changes so that a close temperature control, as in previous catalysts, is unnecessary.  The optimum reaction temperature is 177°-190°, with a throughput of about 100-150 vol. Of gas per vol. of catalyst per hr. and atmosphereic pressure.
