Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of hydrocarbons from CO and H₂ modified by adding at least 2-5 mol. % of C₂H₄ or C₃H₈ to the charge gave products with higher content of olefin and branched-chain hydrocarbons.  Considerable quantities of oxygen-containing compounds were obtained.  Operating temperatures were less critical, and the design of full-scale converters for the synthesis was thus simplified.
