Hydrocarbon oils are produced by passing mixtures of CO and H2 at atmospheric pressure and at 208°-230° over catalysts consisting of oxides of Co and Mn, with which may be mixed Cr as metal or oxide and Ce oxide.  The powdered or granular catalysts are attached to supports by spraying or otherwise coating the support with a Si ester and sprinkling the catalyst onto it while it is still tacky.
