      120.     ------.  [BÄHR, H., AND WENZEL, W.]  (I. G. Farbenindustire A. G.).  Removing Organically Combined Sulfur From Gases.  British Patent 461,001.  Feb. 2, 1937.  Chem. Abs., vol. 31, 1937, p. 5545.

S combined with CS2, COS, and others is removed by bringing the gas into contact, preferably in the presence of moisture, with strong bases or basic-reacting salts of strong inorganic or organic bases at such high temperatures than the combined S is converted into H2S, which is led away together with the gas.  No substantial absorption of weak gaseous acids by the purifying agent takes place.  Suitable agents listed.
