Catalysts for MeOH synthesis are prepared by precipitating ZuCO3 in gelatinous form, washing and drying the precipitate so that it retains its colloidal state, and heating the gel at a temperature not exceeding that employed in the MeOH synthesis.  Protective colloids also may be used.  Gives various details and examples.
