       62.       ------.  [ATWELL, H. V.]  (The Texas Co.).  Synthesis of Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent 2,534,395, Dec. 19, 1950: appl. Filed June 12, 1948.  Serial No. 32,731; 8 claims (Cl. 260-449.6).

Synthesis is effected by passing synthesis gas in contact with a typical hydrocarbon synthesis catalyst in the presence of, or in close proximity to, a 2d catalyst to polymerize gaseous olefins to motor gasoline, but used.  The 2 catalysts preferably are uniformly fluidized by upflowing reactants in good admixture.  Both catalyst particles have approximately equivalent setting rates.  The synthesis catalyst is preferably from the Fe group, the polymerization catalyst from the phosphoric acid type.  The reaction temperature is preferably 600°-650° F, pressure 200-400 p. s. i. g.  The synthesis catalyst is present usually in proportion 2-3 times the volume of the polymerization catalyst.  11 United States patents cited.
