       33.            ARNOLD, J. C. (Standard Oil Development Co.).  Catalytic Apparatus.  British Patent 589,342, Mar. 16, 1944.  Chem. Abs., vol. 42. 1948. p. 356.

Aryl amines of benzene series are obtained by introducing a mixture of aryl nitro hydrocarbons, which may include polynitro compounds, H2 and large quantities of liquid diluent into a reaction zone at a number of points in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at elevated temperature.  The products are separated from the diluent, and the diluent is recycled as cooling medium.  The diluent is present as 20-90% vol. Of the total liquid feed mixture.  Liquid products from hydrogenation of disobutylene or by alkylation of olefins with isoparaffins or by hydrogenation of CO are mentioned as diluents.
