       30.       ------.  [ARNOLD, G. B., AND HESS, H. V.]  (The Texas Co.).  Method of Synthesizing Gasoline Hydrocarbons.  United States Patent 2,568,841.  Sept. 25, 1951: appl. Filed Feb. 1. 1947.  Serial No. 725,836: 11 claims (Cl. 260-450).

The product of synthesis gas conversion at about 500°-700° F., comprising mainly hydrocarbons, H2O and O2 containing organic compounds consisting of alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, esters, and acids, is separated at elevated temperature 175°-300° F. and pressure 150-300 p. s. i. into a gas phase, a liquid hydrocarbon phase, and aqueous phase.  The last 2 phases are treated to remove the O-containing organic compounds distilling <245° F., and these are recycled to the reaction zone where they are converted into liquid hydrocarbons in the gasoline range.
