      19.       ------.  [ALMQUIST, J. A.]  (DuPont Ammonia Corp.).  Catalytic Exothermic Gas Reactions.  British Patent 344,576, Dec. 31, 1928.  Chem. Abs., vol. 25, 1931, p. 4667.

In effecting reactions such as production of organic compounds such as MeOH from CO and steam or H2 the gases are first warmed by passage in heat-exchange relation to, but out of direct contact with, the main catalyst and are then passed to the purifier catalyst in a vessel surrounded by separate pressure-sustaining walls, and, after removal of the products of the purification, the gases are passed to the main catalysts.  For MeOH synthesis, the catalyst may be a mixture of Zn and Cr oxides with use of a mixture of ZN and Cr oxides with use of a mixture of Zn and Cu oxides to remove organic S compounds.
