      Carbonaceous fuel and O2 virtually free form N2 are brought in a continuous manner into a heated reaction chamber, the amount of O2 being limited so that only a part of the fuel reacts with it to form CO, and steam is introduced in limited amount to react with the rest of the fuel and produce CO and H2.
