      3.  ADAMS, C. E., and Dinerstein, R. A. (Standard Oil Co. of Indiana).  Urea Fractionation of Organic Compounds.  United States Patent 2,588,602, Mar. 11, 1952.  Chem. Abs., vol. 47,1953, p. 1181

Straight-chain organic compounds (hydrocarbons, alcohols, or aldehydes) of the highest molecular weight are separated from a mixture of straight-chain compounds of the same class by treating a solution of the mixture with urea (I) and a urea activator (H2O, MeOH, EtOH, PrOH, or Me2CO) to form a complex with the compound (II) of highest molecular weight and separating the complex from the reaction mixture.  The molar ratio of (I) : (II) is around (n-2), where n is the number of C atoms in (II).
