An isomer distribution can be calculated by assuming that the various isomers of a given molecular-weight fraction add C atoms in proportion to their concentrations.  (See also abs. 3645.)  It also can be calculated by assuming that the C-atom addition is proportional to the number of ways in which addition to the individual isomers can occur.  An application of this calculation is given.  Both schemes of calculation give results that agree well with experiment.
