        Theoretical aspects and previous laboratory findings are discussed.  Technical scale apparatus of 2,000 m.³ per day capacity and its operation are described.  Tests of 90 and 69 hr. using low-temperature coke to produce synthesis gas (CO:H₂ ratio 1:2) were made; slight changes in design reduced CH₄ content of gas from 3.6% to 2.2%.  Technical and domestic possibilities are discussed.
