        Production of cheap O2 has made the Fischer-Tropsch process for producing synthetic hydrocarbons practical in America.  The development of the fluid-bed catalyst reactor has improved quality.  By controlling the rate of heat removal from the reacting constituents, different properties can be given to the product.
