Elimination of CO2 and CO from this gas is the first step in the preparation of a N2-H2 mixture for synthesis of NH3.  A method utilizing absorption by water is described and the effects of various factors indicated.  Purification to about 0.5% CO2 can be attained at the expense of about 100-120 m.3 H2O per 1,000 m.3 gas.
