Formation of ferrites, chromites, sulfides, silicates, and aluminates was studied between room temperature and 100° in the presence of H2O.  The reaction products were identified by X-ray, thermomagnetic, and chemical methods.  Several of theproducts formed were similar to those found in nature, notably franklinite, chalcopyrite, and antigorites.  The hydroxides of Ni, Co, Zn, and Mg crystallized in the hexagonal system, type CdI2.
