        As raw material for the production of fatty acids, synthetic paraffins obtained from hydrogenation of CO or from low-temperature carbonization of lignite were used.  The average melting point of the paraffins is 30°-50° and the average chain length C18-C30.  Oxidation was carried out with potassium permanganate.  Production and labor costs and yields are given; also flowsheets.
