Steel sample containing 1.44% C was studied by the Debye-Scherrer powder method.  The changes in property of hardened steel on annealing in the temperature range of 100°-150° depend upon the destruction of the tetragonal form, which tends to go into the cubical lattice.  The 2d change is due tot he decomposition of austenite and the 3d change is connected with the formation of the mixture of a-Fe and cementite.  These 3 changes have been found previously by a study of thermal expansion and electrical conductivity by G. Kurdjumov, and E. Kaminskii.
